My Experience: In 2000, I turned 18 years old. And Jared Fogle became a modern hero having lost 245 lbs by eating fast food. Overweight Americans fell in love with the man AND the myth! Here was a big fat guy who ate NOTHING but Subway sandwiches and became a spokesperson for weight loss! I wanted to be a part of that. According to the commercials, Jared walked to his local subway, ordered up a big plate of sandwichy goodness and chowed down. Then he walked home. He did the same thing at dinner.

So I thought it was worth a go. My town didn’t have a Subway, unfortunately, so I had to settle for driving to the next town and parking at the far end of the parking lot. And while Jared had a six inch turkey sub with no cheese and no mayo for his lunch, I had a fully loaded meatball sub and a Dr Pepper. Needless to say, within a week, I had done no exercise, had ingested thousands of extra calories, and was completely broke from shelling out around $10 twice a day! Not to mention the gas money!
